If our workload is running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, we will want to explore the option of reserving the software component (the virtual machine/infrastructure needs to be reserved separately).

How do we purchase a SUSE Linux reservation and what term should we go with (1 or 3 years)?

First, we’ll want to head over to Reservations and click on SUSE Linux:

There, we’ll get the option to pick between different types of licensing options.

If you are running SUSE Linux, Azure will recommend what to buy under Recommended quantity:

You can use the Term option to switch between One Year and Three Years to see the pricing for the respective option.

The standard discount is 60% of a One Year term and 64% for a Three Year term.

Considering the fact that SUSE Linux reservations cannot be cancelled or exchanged, it looks like the One Year term is a better deal.
