SMB and NFS shares – Reserving Azure Files
Let’s have a look at how much we might be able to save when reserving Azure Files by heading over to Azure Files Reserved Capacity:

1 year and 10 TB – 18% discount
1 year and 100 TB – 22% discount
3 years and 10 TB – 34% discount
3 years and 100 TB – 36% discount
The discounts for Azure Files look pretty good to me, especially when comparing with Managed Disk that gives a 5% discount.
It is definitely worth to consider reserving Azure Files as the savings can be significant.
I like the 3 year option with 10 TB blocks as the savings (34%) are almost at the level of the 3 year with 100 TB option (36%).
Making incremental purchases, with a three year term and 10 TB at a time looks like a good approach.
If your needs change over time (…if you decide to migrate to a different service in the future), you could switch to the 1 year and 10 TB option (18% discount) in the shorter term.
